Balasubrahmanyan, secretary, Mangalore chapter of the Dakshin Railway Employees' Union, said that 64 protesters staged a dharna from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. District secretary of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) Vasudeva, and representative of LIC Employees' Union participated in the dharna. Mr. Narayanan told The Hindu that the Dakshin Railway Employees' Union has not been recognised by the railways and that the posters had been put up in violation of the rules.
