ADILABAD: The Nizamabad Zone Chief Engineer, Andhra Pradesh Northern Power Distribution Company limited (NPDCL) P. Ganapati on Tuesday urged farmers to regularise any unauthorised power connections. He warned of legal action in case of detection of any unauthorised connection. Talking to The Hindu , Mr. Ganapati and Adilabad Circle Superintending Engineer T. Chandrasekhar said the NPDCL had started a drive to remove the estimated 4,000 unauthorised connections in the district. They also urged the farmers to start using ISI motors, capacitors and frictionless foot valves for their agriculture connections.
Curbs on borewells
The two officials revealed that strict implementation of the Water, Land and Tree Act by the State Government has resulted in curbs on digging of bore wells. This in turn resulted in curbing increase in supply of power through increased number of agriculture connections, they pointed out. Mr. Chandrasekhar said 25 new 33/11 KV sub stations would be built in Adilabad district at a cost of Rs. 25 crores. These stations to be built in two phases would be funded by the Papanese Bank for Internation Cooperation, he added.
Sub-stations to come up
In the first phase the sub-stations would come up this year at Tandra, Wadial, Sirgapur, Dilawarpur, Swarna, Edbid, Wanalpad, Lokari, Bhoraj, Sarangapur, Penchikalpet, Kommera and Nazrulnagar. Next year, new sub-stations would be built at Medipalli, Dharmaram, Kortikal, Ralligadpur, Satnala, Dasnapur, Bhatmangaon, Sonali, Vankulam, Beltharoda, Jankapur, Rechini and Tallagurjala.
