HYDERABAD: A Division Bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday took serious note of violations of various rules while constructing residential and commercial buildings and constituted a committee headed by the Secretary of the State Government to submit a report to the court. A Division Bench has treated a report in a section of press regarding lack of fire safety measures and non-implementation of fire safety rules and called for reports from the authorities. When the case came up for hearing on Tuesday, the Bench was told that there were many buildings which lack minimum fire safety facilities, and that rules had been violated by various bodies. It is learnt that the list included some structures in the High Court, the building of Commissioner of Police, etc.
Report within 3 months
The committee would report to the court within three months about the state of affairs and as to how rules had been violated. The Bench made it clear that no action should be taken that would lead to further violation of building regulations, fire safety rules, etc. The Bench directed the Hyderabad Metro Water Works and Sewerage Board and Transco to see that amenities are not provided for such buildings which do not have no objection certificate and which are not yet occupied. The authorities should take steps to enlighten the public in this regard. The Bench said that the issue of commercial shopping complexes, cinema halls and similar structures would be taken up on February 16.
