Street play festival at Malleswaram Grounds

STREET THEATRE has always amazed spectators. The energy of the actors, the proximity of the stories and the intensity of the performance have worked wonders to strengthen bonds with the viewers.

Outside the auditoriums and big halls, street theatre often espouses social issues, themes that trigger social movements. Organising such plays for the last 10 years, the city-based Aavishkara has so far enacted over 30 original plays.

They were at it again recently, holding an eight-day-long street play festival at the city's Malleswaram Grounds. The festival had a range of seminars on different cultural and literary issues, besides the plays.

The seminar series was launched by Narasimhalu Vadavate, a reputed clarinet player. His performance had an electrifying effect on the audience.
