BANGALORE: As per the directions of the Election Commission of India, the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) will conduct a month's special summary revision of electoral roll from January 25. Persons who have completed 18 years as on January 1, 2006, and those whose names are not found in the existing roll can register their names. During this special campaign, BMP officials will also receive forms for claims and objections from people at all designated locations and at the office of the Electoral Registration Officer from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on January 29, February 5, 11, 12 and 19. According to a press release issued by the District Election Officer, Venkataramana N Naik, who is also the BMP Joint Commissioner (Administration), the officials have visited new buildings, areas and streets that had been left out during the previous summary revision and issued forms for filing claims and objections. These forms are also being issued at the designated post offices, the release said. People can use Form No. 6 for inclusion of names, Form No. 7 for deletion of names and filing objections with regard to entries in the existing roll, Form No 8 for corrections in the existing roll and Form No 8/A for shifting of names from one part to another part in the same constituency, the release said. The draft roll will be published on January 25 and people can file claims and objections till February 24. The officials will examine these claims and settle them on March 23 and the final electoral roll will be published on April 29. The BMP has asked political parties, residential welfare associations, non-governmental organisations to submit bulk applications at the offices of the Electoral Registration and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers. Forms for claims and objections can also be filed online through ceo.kar.nic.in
