Seminar to focus on revival of sick units

KANNUR: The North Malabar Chamber of Commerce and the Press Club here will jointly organise a seminar on development of the district. Minister of State for External Affairs E. Ahamed will inaugurate the seminar on January 28

Organising committee working chairman C. Jayachandran and general convener P.P. Saseendran said at a press conference here on Wednesday that K. Sudhakaran, MLA, would deliver the keynote address.

M.V. Govindan, MLA; K.C. Joseph, MLA; district panchayat president K.K. Narayanan, municipal chairman K. Upendran, CPI(M) leader E.P. Jayarajan and BJP leader P.K. Krishnadas would attend the function.

The seminar sessions would be held at the Chamber Hall on January 30 and 31. On the first day, there would be discussion on revival of sick industrial units in the district and provision of basic infrastructure facilities, they said.

MPs A.P. Abdullakutty, Pannian Raveendran, C.K. Chandrappan, P. Karunakaran and P. Sathi Devi, MLAs P. Jayarajan and M.V. Jayarajan, and District Collector K.S. Srinivas would participate in the discussions.

Sessions on education, agriculture and existing projects would be held on the second day. MLAs P.K. Sreemathi, A.D. Musthafa and K.P. Mohanan and Kannur University Vice-Chancellor P. Chandramohan would participate in the discussions. Public could participate in the discussions and submit their suggestions and proposals, the organisers said.
