Congress, BJP candidates file nominations

VISAKHAPATNAM: Fanfare marked the filing of nominations on Wednesday for the prestigious Visakhapatnam-I Assembly byelection by Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party nominees Dronamraju Srinivasa Rao and Sagi Kasi Viswanatha Raju respectively. Telugu Desam Party's candidate S.A. Rehman will file his nomination on Friday.

The byelection, scheduled for February 19, is caused by death of Dronamraju Satyanarayana. Accompanied by Commercial Taxes Minister Konathala Ramakrishna, MLA and DCC president Gandi Babji and others, Mr. Srinivasa Rao submitted his nomination to Returning Officer M.B. Kameswara Rao.

BJP State president N. Indrasena Reddy, former Union Minister U. Krishnam Raju and others accompanied Mr. Viswanatha Raju for filing papers in the afternoon.
