27 people honoured

GULBARGA: The district administration on Thursday honoured 27 people who have received State and national awards, to mark the Republic Day celebrations at Chandrasekhar Patil Stadium here.

Prominent among those honoured by Primary and Secondary Education Minister R. Ramalinga Reddy and Gulbarga MP Iqbal Ahmed Saradgi is noted wood sculptor Naganna Monappa Badiger, who received this year's Nadoja Prashasti conferred by Kannada University, Hampi.

Others who were honoured include Kantachari Mannur, Ramzan Darga and Syed Sarmasth (journalism); Mehboob Kousar and P.K. Kandobha (literature); Totendra Shivacharyaru of Nalwar Math (social work); K.M. Nagathan (medicine); Chandrakant Kandoji (drama); Devendrappa Thottalli and Nagappa Belamgi (education); Irfan Abbas, Abdul Soman Malla, Anilkumar, Arvind Viboothi and Shaheen Gour(sports).
