Celebrations mark Republic Day in city

Thiruvananthapuram: Republic Day functions were organised by government agencies and various organisations at several venues throughout the city.

At the international airport, Airport Director K. Natarajan hoisted the national flag and took salute of the march past presented by the Central Industrial Security Force and Airport Aviation Fire Force.

The acting director of the National Airport Division, Rajan George and the CISF Commandant Dutta also attended the function.

The Kshema Social Circle of the State Bank of Travancore celebrated Republic Day by distributing financial assistance for needy students and victims of cancer, cardiac disease and epilepsy. While two of the beneficiaries received educational assistance, eight others were given funds for treatment. The SBT deputy general manager H.N. Das hoisted the national flag and distributed the assistance. Chairman of the Officers Association R. Chandrasenan and the assistant general manager A.Lakshmanan were among those who addressed the gathering.
