GUNTUR: The Republic Day parade on the Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU) campus was colourful, well-organised, and left the students a happy lot.

The creativity of the students was evident from their innovative ways of highlighting social issues. Tiny national flags were released into the sky through special fireworks.

The tableau of the Annam Guruvamma Krishna Murthy College depicting Andhra Pradesh as the land of farmers attracted all and was awarded the first prize. While, the tableau of Guntur Abhyudaya College won the second prize for highlighting the need to protect our environment.

There were tribes dressed up in their traditional best in the tableau of Sarada College from Vijayawada.

The bravery of heroes from Palnadu was highlighted by the students of the PNC and KR College, Narsaraopet, while, students from the VJP and DLB College, Mangalagiri, highlighted the need to support the handloom sector. Students jostled to have a photograph with movie star Nagendrababu, who is an alumnus of the university, and was the chief guest of the function.
