ELURU: The Collector Lav Agarwal on Thursday said the district administration was giving top priority to healthcare in the agency of West Godavari district. Speaking at a function held in connection with the Republic Day celebrations, he said new Primary Health Centres (PHCs) were established at Kamayyapalem, Vinjaram and Antarvedigudem in addition to the existing PHCs in a bid to improve the medical services in the agency. He said the official machinery was committed to revival of Kolleru and rehabilitation of the native people.
Rice productivity
Mr Agarwal said it was aimed at achieving a rice productivity of 4,920 kgs per hectare in the upcoming rabi in the district. The administration had ensured distribution of crop loans of Rs 250 crores among the farmers in association with bankers in the current year.
Rice procurement
He said the district stood first in meeting the targets with regard to procurement of rice from the millers. As part of promoting mechanisation in agriculture, power tillers, power sprayers and other tools worth Rs 34 lakh were given to the farmers with 50 per cent subsidy, the Collector informed. He claimed to have issued 67,000 fresh ration cards to both the above and below poverty line families in urban areas in the district in addition to the distribution of 1.38 lakh computerised cards.
