NEW DELHI: Two-time World junior champion Shakhriyar Mamedyarov held back Viswanathan Anand and World champion Veselin Topalov produced a memorable victory over World Cup winner Levon Aronian to move into sole lead after 10 rounds of the Corus chess championship at Wijk aan Zee, near Amsterdam, on Wednesday.
The results: 10th round: Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (Aze, 4) drew with Viswanathan Anand (Ind, 7); Veselin Topalov (Bul, 7.5) bt Levon Aronian (Arm, 4.5); Boris Gelfand (Isr, 6) drew with Sergey Karjakin (Ukr, 5.5); Ivan Sokolov (Ned, 3.5) drew with Michael Adams (Eng, 6); Etienne Bacrot (Fra, 4) bt Gata Kamsky (USA, 2.5); Sergey Tiviakov (Ned, 4.5) drew with Vassily Ivanchuk (Ukr, 5.5); Loek van Wely (Ned, 5) bt Peter Leko (Hun, 4.5).
