Letters to the Editor
One should congratulate Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on proposing a law to take over major cable television networks and thereby curb the monopolistic cable regime in Tamil Nadu, particularly in Chennai. Let us hope the law will come into force soon.
M.S. Ramesh,
It is well known that major networks use strong-arm tactics to make not only cable operators but also some other television channels fall in line. The Government's decision to take over the assets of some multiple system operators is a boon to viewers at least for the time being. It will help to curb authoritarian tendencies of the private networks.
S.G.S. Swathi,
