SILICON VALLEY (U.S.): An Indian-American professor in California has been missing for nearly a month and the police have sought the public's help in locating him. Vinod Kumar Saxena (61), a professor of meteorology, was reported missing last week after he failed to appear at a therapy appointment, and investigators later learnt that he had not been to his campus apartment since December 29, San Jose State Police Sgt. Robert Noriega said. Police would not disclose why Mr. Saxena was going to therapy, but said he had been experiencing problems recently in his employment and family life and might have been severely depressed. Sgt. Noriega said there was no indication of foul play. Police suspect Mr. Saxena might have gone to North Carolina, where he once taught and where an ex-wife lives, or Pennsylvania, where police believe he might have been researching a book. The San Jose State University Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating Mr. Saxena, who holds several degrees including a doctorate from Agra University, and is an expert in fog and cloud microphysics.
