5 Indians held in Kachchativu

COLOMBO: The Sri Lankan Navy apprehended five Indian nationals in the Kachchativu islet in the early hours of Thursday with a huge consignment of electric detonators, the island's navy said.

"An Indian boat was seen approaching LTTE-held northern Sri Lanka on Wednesday night. When we chased the boat, it beached in Kachchativu. In the morning, following investigations, five Indians were found on board with 38 boxes of electric detonators with Indian markings, totalling 61,056," a naval spokesperson told The Hindu. Those held would be handed over to the local police, he said.
