VISAKHAPATNAM: UGC National seminar on "relevance of philosophy in 21st century'' will be organised by the Department of Philosophy, Andhra University, here on Friday and Saturday. The main objective of the seminar is to make an effort to introduce philosophy as a foundation course at all levels of education--primary, secondary and higher, said the Associate Professor of the department and director of the seminar K.R. Rajani at a press conference here on Thursday. All kinds of knowledge--scientific, empirical, logical, analytical and revelational were discussed by philosophy which was described as "dear delight'' by Pluto, while Kautilya termed it lamp of all sciences, and the father of modern philosophy Rene Descartes termed it a tree and all branches were its branches, and "noblest pleasure'' by Leonardo, said Dr. Rajani. Recent research in ethics provide that learning ethics in business, work and medical fields had a tremendous influence on people.One hundred delegates would participate in the seminar. Forty three papers had been received so far, Dr. Rajani added.
