Cultivable area under kharif crop goes up

ADILABAD: Adilabad Collector R. Subba Rao on Thursday said the area under cultivation in the district during kharif has increased from 4.2 lakh hectares to 4.44 lakh hectares. He said this was a result of the various pro farmer policies of the State Government.

Taking the Republic Day parade salute at the police parade grounds here, the Collector said 65,000 quintals of subsidised foundation seed and fertilizers at a cost of Rs. 5 crores was disbursed among farmers during the financial year. In addition, farm implements, special training classes and awareness camps on use of bio fertilizers and manure were also conducted, he added.
