KARIMNAGAR: The women self-help groups of the district have set a milestone by procuring a total of 8.62 lakh tonnes of maize worth Rs. 46.55 crores during the kharif season from the farmers by opening 90 maize procurement centres, said Collector C Parthasarathi here on Thursday. After unfurling the national flag at the police parade grounds on the occasion of Republic day celebrations in the district, the Collector said that the Government had provided financial assistance of Rs. 38.40 crores to 9,700 women SHGs through bank linkage this year. In order to provide corporate medical treatment to women SHG members and their families, the Government had launched Arogya Raksha scheme in collaboration with the Prathima Institute of Medical Sciences. The scheme had evoked good response with over 19,000 families benefiting out of it.
Job guarantee scheme
He also said that the Government would implement the national rural employment guarantee scheme from February 2 onwards and provide employment to agricultural labourers. He said that the Government had set up a science museum in the town for the benefit of students and teachers.
