Police bust cheating racket

MANGALORE: The Mangalore South police on Wednesday arrested eight persons and busted a fake registration certificate book and a cheating racket. Police recovered six cars and fake seals of a dozen Regional Transport Offices in this connection.

Police initially arrested Dinesh of Uppinangady, and based on information given by him, arrested Anwar of Jeppupatna, Asif Iqbal of Thumbe, Sharief of Adyar-Valachil, Ismail of Nandavar and Jamal and Nazir of Ullal Pramith.

The accused allegedly duplicated registration certificate books based on originals obtained from prospective sellers.

K.S. Suresh Babu, Inspector-General of Police (Western Range), told presspersons here on Wednesday that they also forged insurance documents. They used the forged books to obtain loans.
