CHENNAI : Six Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) cadres, who apprehended arrested in connection with some damage caused to a banner put up on the premises of the Madras Presidency College, have been granted anticipatory bail by the Madras High Court. Justice S. Sardar Zackria Hussain granted anticipatory bail to advocate Hasan Mohamed Jinnah and five others, and directed them to surrender before the XIII Metropolitan Magistrate at Egmore within two weeks. They are to execute a personal bond for Rs. 5,000 each besides furnishing two sureties for a like sum each. The matter relates to a case registered by the D-6 Anna Square police station for some alleged damage caused to a banner erected by the students wing of the All-India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. The petitioners said that based on a representation from them, the college principal took steps to remove the banner. However, the complaint alleged that the petitioners, along with about 100 others, had gheraoed the principal and then damaged the banner. The complaint said the act was instigated by the DMK president.
