GUNTUR: An armed gang claiming to be naxalites robbed five houses and decamped with Rs 29,000 and 30 sovereigns of gold after threatening the inmates in Pallegunta village of Gurazala mandal in Guntur district, during the early hours of Thursday. According to the Gurazala police, the six-gang members threatened one Mr. G. Lakshmaiah of the village to call out his neighbour Kandukuri Srinivas Rao. When he opened the door, they barged in and took away Rs. 400. Later, they approached Lakshmaiah through Srinivas Rao and robbed Rs 23,000 from his house. Lakshmaiah was forced by the gang to lead them to his neighbour P.Venkateshwar's house. They took away 30 sovereigns of gold and Rs 1,100 cash. Later, the gang approached Jasti Sankaraiah's house and took away Rs.4, 500 from his possession.
