Ayush Department to be strengthened

Rosaiah inaugurates exhibition of medicinal plants

HYDERABAD: Health Minister K. Rosaiah has announced that the Government is keen on strengthening the Ayush Department, handling Ayurveda, yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy medicine streams, to promote the Indian system of medicine in the State.

Though traditional Indian systems of medicine like Ayurveda and Unani offered treatment to all the ailments, their practice has somewhat been shadowed by modern medical practices, he said. Mr. Rosaiah was speaking at a meeting after inaugurating Oshadhi - 2006, an exhibition of medicinal and aromatic plants organised by the Andhra Pradesh Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Board, on Thursday.
