Government warned against power sector reforms

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The APSEB Engineers' Association has cautioned the Government against going any further with the reforms suggested under the Electricity Act of 2003.

At a press conference on Thursday, the association president and secretary-general, A. V. Sambasiva Rao and A. Sudhakar Rao, said the sector would collapse within a year if these measures were pursued.

The steps being taken under the `open access system' prescribed by the Act would help only private parties killing public utilities.
