Have gourmet food within your means

At `Rusi Festival 2006'

It promises to trigger the taste buds — star style. But then, the price for this is affordable! Surprising? The `Rusi Festival 2006' to be held under the auspices of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) (Southern Region), Madurai Zone, for two days from January 28 at the Gandhi Museum campus offers a range of vegetarian gourmet dishes.

According to the organisers, all cannot afford dining at star hotels, as nothing could be had inside of Rs.50. The festival would provide the delicacies prepared by star hotels for the public to partake with delight.

At the same time, the diners would be treated to some of the traditional dances such as karagattam and oyilattam. Further, as part of its commitment to social development, the CII would, in association with the District Rural Development Agency, put up an exhibition of products such as paper cups, office stationery, pottery, jute products, spices and herbs, snacks, etc. manufactured by self-help groups.

The Chairman, Social Development Sub Committee, CII, Southern Region, T.T. Ashok, will inaugurate the festival. The Project Officer, District Rural Development Agency, Kirlosh Kumar, will be the chief guest. A book on the success stories of self-help groups of Madurai will be released and the website of the Madurai DRDA will also be launched.
