Water level

MADURAI: The water level in Periyar dam stood at 131.40 feet with an inflow of 28 cusecs and a discharge of 600 cusecs. The level in the Vaigai dam was 67.52 feet with an inflow of 451 cusecs and a discharge of 761 cusecs. The combined Periyar credit stood at 7294 mcft.

Results published

The results of M.Sc. (Physics) and M.Sc. (Chemistry) degree non-semester examinations of the Directorate of Distance Education, Madurai Kamaraj University, held in July, last year, have been published. Candidates, who want to apply for direct revaluation of answer-scripts, can submit the forms with a fee of Rs.225 per paper before February 8. M. Thirumalai, Additional Controller of Examinations, in a press release here, said that candidates could also apply for obtaining transparency of answer-sheets before applying for revaluation. In that case, candidates should apply in Form-A with a photostat copy of marks with a fee of Rs.225 per paper before February 8.

After going through the transparency, the candidates could apply for re-valuation in Form-B, with the same fee per paper, before February 15.

11 hurt as mini-bus overturns

Eleven persons were injured when the mini-bus in which they were travelling overturned at Ganesapuram in the district on Friday.

According to police sources, the mini-bus bound for Karupatti from Vadipatti turned turtle when the driver tried to negotiate a curve. All the injured, including seven women, were referred to the Government Rajaji Hospital here for treatment. Sholavandan police have registered a case.

Youth festival

The Nehru Yuva Kendra will conduct a district-level youth cultural festival at Gandhi Memorial Museum on January 28. Competitions in various disciplines, including folk dance, folk songs, fancy dress and rangoli, will be held. For more details, contact M.
