Woman robbed of gold chain, purse

BANGALORE: An autorickshaw driver and his accomplice robbed a woman of a gold chain, a mobile phone and a purse at knifepoint in Sanjaynagar police station limits on Wednesday, the police said.

The police said that around 9 p.m. Anamika Das, who works as an engineer in a private industry in Peenya, boarded the autorickshaw near M.S. Ramaiah Hospital to reach her house in Ashwathnagar.

After she had travelled some distance, another person got into the autorickshaw, the police quoted her as saying. On reaching 80 ft road, Sanjaynagar, the driver the other person threatened Anamika with a knife and robbed her of the gold chain valued at Rs. 9,000, the mobile phone and purse, the police said. The Sanjaynagar police have registered a case.

Chain snatched

Three men, who came on a motorcycle, snatched a gold chain estimated at Rs. 32,000 from a woman in Jalahalli police station limits on Wednesday, the police said.

The police said that around 11 p.m. Lingamma, a resident of Sharadambanagar in Jalahalli, took her dog for a stroll. While she was walking in front of the Uttarahalli MLA R. Ashok's house, three men, who came on a motorcycle, pushed her and snatched her chain. On a complaint by Lingamma, the Jalahalli police have registered a case.

Recovered

The Malleswaram police have arrested Kalaivan (23) of Vellivarapura slum on the charge of chain snatching and recovered from him a gold chain valued at Rs. 20,000.

The police said that on November 29, 2005 Kalaivan had snatched the chain from Manjula while she was walking near the Vellivarapura railway bridge in Malleswaram.
