TAMBARAM:
A two-day Students' Science, Arts and Crafts exhibition SAC 2006 commenced at the Prince Matriculation Higher Secondary School in suburban Madipakkam, on Friday.
Conducted for the seventh time, this exhibition is held once in two years to create an awareness and also kindle interest among the school students in science, arts and crafts, according to K. Vasudevan, Principal and Chairman of the school.
Inaugurating the exhibition, P. Iyamperumal, Executive Director, Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre, said it was important for students to develop a strong interest towards the sciences, as only they could help in realising the goals set out in "Vision 2020' by the President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
As part of this, the students should learn to be creative as it would not only dispel their ignorance, but also help them to have a strong knowledge of the issues they deal with.
Students from more than 30 schools in the vicinity attended the exhibition, displaying their science and artistic projects. Most of the projects dealt with everyday science.
