BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Friday held that it will not be right to provide reservation for isolated posts. A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph,<149> and Justice R. Gururajan passed the order on an appeal by the State Government. The State appealed against a single judge order of February 15, 2005. The single judge had directed the State to approve the post of a lecturer in history, though the post was reserved and the candidate was not from the reserved <149>community. K. Govindappa was appointed lecturer of history in a junior college in Tumkur. The Government did not approve the appointment saying that the post was reserved for Scheduled Castes<149> category. Mr. Govindappa challenged the Government order saying that it was wrong and reservation could not be done for isolated posts. A single judge had directed the Government to approve the appointment of Mr. Govindappa.
