VIJAYAWADA: The 25th senior National netball championship, which was inaugurated on Saturday, witnessed some tense moments as the Punjab men's team, which was banned for one year by the federation, made hectic efforts to participate in the tournament. After a series of telephonic conversations by the Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association president, L. Rajagopal, with the Netball Federation of India president, G. Singh, the technical committee decided not to let Punjab participate. Meanwhile, all the 24 teams, both men and women, have arrived and the matches would be conducted from Sunday on six courts. The teams are divided into four pools and the matches are held in league-cum-knockout format. Sports Reporter
