MANJERI: A new radio station became functional here on Saturday. Union Minister of State for External Affairs E. Ahamed inaugurated the local FM station built at a cost of Rs.3 crores. It will function as a relay radio station for the time being under All India Radio, Kozhikode. The inauguration took place at a function organised on the Unity Women's College campus about five kilometers away from the station. Among those who took part in the function were Ishaq Kurikkal, MLA, and C.P. Rajasekharan, director, All India Radio, Kozhikode. A large number of local people gathered to witness the launch of the FM station, which had been the dream of Manjeri for many years.
