LONDON: Conspiracy theories surrounding the death of Princess Diana and her boyfriend Dodi in a car crash in Paris nine years ago were revived at the weekend after the head of an investigation confirmed that certain "questions'' about the circumstances of the crash had been rightly raised. John Stevens, former head of British police who is leading the inquiry, said the probe had been "far more complex than any of us thought.'' He said certain issues raised by Dodi's father Mohammed Al Fayed were "right to be raised'' and his team was "pursuing'' them. He has alleged that Diana and his son, who were rumoured to have been planning to marry at the time of their death, had been victims of an assassination plot. He has sought to implicate the royal family, which he has said, was embarrassed by the Diana-Dodi affair. Lord Stevens said: "We have new witnesses, we are re-examining other witnesses, and at the end of the day I think what people want is a thorough investigation.''
