Rally to drum up support for harbour project

Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Janapaksham, a people's initiative in the capital, will organise a vehicle rally here on Tuesday to drum up support for the Vizhinjam harbour project.

Actor Jagadish will flag off the rally titled `India Max Yatra' from Kowdiar square at 10 a.m. It will conclude at Chappath in Vizhinjam with a public meeting in the evening. The organisers will accord a public reception to Ports Minister M.V. Raghavan at the public meeting for his services in expediting the project.

Janapaksham had been in the forefront of the campaign for the port. It had organised a number of programmes, including a rights declaration rally, to make the people aware of the significance of the project. The latest yatra has been planned to celebrate the foundation stone laying ceremony scheduled on February 7.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is expected to lay the stone for the project
