KOCHI: CPI(M) leader M.A. Baby has said that terrorism across the world is a by-product of the capitalist economic system. Speaking at a seminar on `Terrorism and related problems,' organised as part of the State conference of the All India Peace and Solidarity Organisation (AIPSO) here on Sunday, Mr. Baby said that discontent and inequalities created by economic disparities, and denial of social justice to a certain section of society often incited the growth of terrorism. Suicide bombers were, in reality, created by the apparatus of the State itself. Mr. Baby said the United States was indulging in and supporting terrorist activities directly, while simultaneously issuing statements condemning them. The former Pro Vice-Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University N.A. Kareem spoke about the political aspects of terrorism in West Asia. The conference elected Perumpuzha Gopalakrishnan as general secretary and K. Raman Pillai as president.
