Going by the number of instances of burglaries and thefts that are being reported from several parts of Kerala, including from major cities such as Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi, groups of criminals would seem to be having a free run in the State.

While it is the duty of the police force to catch the culprits, can it be true that the citizens need to play their own role in limiting such criminal acts by curbing conspicuous consumption and also ensuring safe practices in everyday life.
