BELGAUM: An enchanting concert by renowned vocalist Kavita Krishnamurthy Subramaniam here on Sunday evening brought the curtains down on the three-day celebrations to mark the second anniversary of the consecration of the Universal Temple at Sri Ramakrishna Mission Ashram on the fort premises. It is said that Swami Vivekananda had stayed here in October 1892 in what was then an official guest-house of the Forest Department. The structure has now become a monument to him and a centre to spread his teachings. To mark the occasion, portraits of the 12th Century reformers Basveshwara and Akkamahadevi were unveiled by Sri Neelakanta Mahaswamiji of Mahant Duradundeshwar Math, Murgo, in the presence of the heads of other Veerashaiva maths. Earlier, a statue of Swami Vivekananda was also unveiled. During the three-day celebrations, which was inaugurated by Swami Suhitananda, assistant secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, Howrah, Vedic chanting, spiritual discourses by spiritual leaders, youth convention and public meetings were held. In the evenings on all the three days, special concerts were organised featuring renowned flautist Ronu Majumdar, Pramod Ranade, Hrishikesh Ranade and Prajakta Ranade.
