Fake beedi racket: one held

HUBLI: The Dharwad police unearthed a fake beedi racket and arrested one person in this connection on Saturday.

The arrested, Abdul Razak Abdulsattar Bankapur, is a resident of Pendar Oni in Dharwad, the police said. Beedi bundles and other goods worth Rs. 16,000 have been confiscated. The police said the arrested used to sell the beedis made locally under popular brand names. A case has been registered at Dharwad Town police station.

Arrested

The Dharwad police arrested a 28-year-old man on the charge of bicycle theft and seized stolen bicycles valued at Rs. 20,000. The police said the accused Manjunath Nagappa Badiger was a resident of Hosayallapur in Dharwad. Dharwad town police have registered a case.
