Dhanbad: Nine students of the Indian School of Mines here were arrested and three FIRs lodged by the police against 250 others for violence, sabotage and injuring an Additional Superintendent of Police here, following an incident of eve-teasing. The incident took place when some ISM students beat up the guardian of two girls who had protested against the act inside a local cinema hall on Saturday, Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajiv Ranjan said on Sunday. Angry local residents and the staff of the theatre thrashed them. The students called up their friends at the institute over mobile phones, which led to over 500 more students storming the theatre and vandalising it and a hotel. They also threw stones at passers-by. Finding the situation going out of hand, Additional Superintendent of Police M.P. Lakra rushed to the place and tried to talk to the students, who rejected his overtures, charged at him and broke his hand, Mr. Ranjan said.
