SRIKAKULAM: Elaborate arrangements are being made for the Ratha Sapthami or Surya Jayanthi festival at the Sun Temple at Arasavilli, the only one of its kind in the State. The function will start with the Ksheeraabhishekam in the early hours (around 3 a.m.) on February 4 and continue the whole day. According to Deputy Commissioner of Endowments A. Kondala Rao a special feature of the festival this year will be the decoration of idols with gold ornaments, which have been kept in a locker. It is being done after a gap of about 10 years, Mr. Rao, who reviewed the arrangements with the temple Executive Officer and other officers here, said. He said the day after Ratha Sapthami on February 5 some two lakh people are expected at the Sun Temple from different parts of the State. He said arrangements have been made to ensure hassle-free and speedy darshan to devotees. Special arrangements have been made for VIP darshan . Steps were taken to ensure uninterrupted power supply, water and maintenance of hygiene. A number of cultural activities including a musical programme by Chennai-based Swara Madhuri would be organised.
