Several TVs burn up in Krishna Lanka

Some TVs produce sparks and smoke sending viewers into a panic


  • Televisions in over 50 households were burnt, says Krishna Lanka corporator
  • Power fluctuations noticed in the morning itself
  • Complaints lodged with the department met with no response

    VIJAYAWADA: Televisions, cordless telephones and other gadgets with delicate circuits were burnt reportedly due to massive voltage surge around 2.30 p.m. in several houses in Krishna Lanka here on Saturday. While most of the televisions just blacked out, a few produced sparks and smoke sending viewers into a panic. Krishna Lanka corporator Donepudi Kasinath said televisions in over 50 households were burnt in the afternoon. SPDCL Divisional Electrical Engineer (operations) Ram Singh said a transformer in Krishna Lanka had a problem. The neutral line to it got cut and power flowed into the neutral line also.
