Vasan's first act as Minister

Pondicherry: When the Department of Information and Publicity got ready with the invitation cards for the function of the unveiling of statue of G.K. Moopanar by Chief Minister N. Rangasamy here on January 30, there was little or no expectation that the TNCC president and Member of Parliament, G.K. Vasan, who is the chief guest of the function, would become a Central Minister.

Mr. Rangasamy called up Mr. Vasan and congratulated him on becoming a Minister.

In the earlier invitation cards, Mr. Vasan was referred as Member of Parliament. But with his becoming a Minister, the administration got fresh cards printed for distribution.

Moopanar's statue is to be unveiled at the Marapalam-Mudaliarpet junction on the Pondicherry-Cuddalore route.

Pondicherry PCC leader P. Shanmugham expressed his happiness over induction of Mr. Vasan into the Central Ministry.
