Baripada: Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad on Sunday hinted that there would be no increase in the passenger train fares in the coming budget. "Although we are going to provide faster trains and more comforts for the railway commuters, the passenger fares would remain unchanged," Mr. Lalu Prasad said while flagging off the first DMU train on the 52-km stretch of the Rupsa-bound Baripada-Rupsa passenger train here. Efforts would be made to start two new train services, one linking Baripada with Puri and the other linking Baripada with Howrah in the near future. Mr. Prasad said that after the completion of Phase Two of the Rupsa-Bangriposi gauge conversion project, the demand to connect Bangriposi with the Tata-Badampahar main line would be examined. The nearly 90-km Rupsa-Bangriposi narrow gauge rail route just completed 100 years on January 20. UNI
