SHIMLA: The Himachal Chief Minister, Virbhadra Singh, launched few more water schemes in Hamirpur district on Sunday. He inaugurated Jhaniara-Bassi and Khaggal-Bhatwara water supply schemes constructed at a cost of Rs. 75.06 lakhs and Rs. 40.72 lakhs respectively. A bridge over Kunah khad on Neri-Kamlah-Baleta road constructed at a cost of Rs. 94.5 lakhs was also inaugurated by the Chief Minister. Addressing a public meeting, the Chief Minister reminded the local politicians to become social workers and dedicate themselves to the service of the poor. Giving credit to his own government, he said Himachal Pradesh was one of few States which implemented the constitutional amendment on priority and started a three-tier Panchayati Raj system. He said that the much talked about amendment was implemented during his Chief Ministership and it was decided not to conduct the Panchayat elections on party symbols so that the entry of politics into village households could be prevented.
