HYDERABAD: A brain-storming session of BJP leaders will be held here in March to formulate an action plan on Telangana, keeping in view the party's stand favouring smaller States. Central leaders will attend the two-day session the exact dates for which are yet to be finalised, State BJP vice-president S.V. Seshagiri Rao and general secretary K. Laxman told reporters here on Sunday, while briefing on the deliberations of the State office-bearers' meeting.
Panchayat elections
They said BJP had to set aside the Telangana issue during the NDA regime, as it was not part of the common agenda. The party would discuss ways of taking it forward in the wake of changed political situation in the State. The meeting favoured the party should contest the panchayat elections on its own as part of strategy to broaden its base in the State. Replying to questions, they said Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader K. Chandrasekhara Rao had spoken to BJP leaders seeking their reply to the UPA sub-committee's letter on Telangana. However, they reiterated the party's position that it would not take cognisance of the committee, as it was a political body. Asked if the party would extend support to TRS if the latter sought it in the elections, they dismissed it as "hypothetical". The BJP never had any ties with the TRS.
