HYDERABAD : Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has urged Dell Inc., a leading diversified information technology supplier, to consider setting up its manufacturing facility in Hyderabad. The Chief Minister, who inaugurated the Dell's new facility at Hitec city on Sunday, referred to the company's plan to expand its operations by setting up a manufacturing facility in India and said: "I urge the company to consider Hyderabad for its plans. It is the most sought city after all."
Lists facilities
The city had the best of young talent, infrastructure, communications and other facilities, he said assuring the Government's proactive support to any plans in this direction. The Government had already initiated several measures, including decongestion of the city, construction of 8-lane outer ring road and establishment of a knowledge corridor. The company could also concentrate on second tier cities like Visakhapatnam from where it could commence its BPO operations.
Expansion
Dr. Reddy, who held a brief meeting with Dell CEO Kevin B. Rollins, later said nothing had been concretised as yet. Mr. Rollins said that the company's expansion in Hyderabad was not just related to capacity but to strategic business. The company's development centre set up in the city a couple of years ago grew rapidly and was being utilised by it to develop global capabilities. Dell International Services India managing director Roni Malhotra welcomed the gathering.
