Friends United gets past Cantonment

HYDERABAD : Friends United Club, Ammuguda, scored a 5-3 win via tie-breaker against Cantonment XI in the 10th Bolarum Challenge Cup football tournament at Bolarum here on Sunday.

Friends shot into lead in the sixth minute and in the dying minutes Alamdhar equalised for the rivals. With the teams locked one all at the end of full-time, tie-breaker rule was applied to in which Altamas, Iqbal Ali, Ramesh Kumar and Salman scored for the winners while only Anand and Ramesh were successful for the losers.

Nalgonda in semifinals

A hat-trick by Md. Shafiuddin helped Nalgonda defeat Medak 3-0 in the league phase and qualify for the semifinals of the Hyderabad State junior inter-district hockey championship (under-21) in Huzurabad on Sunday.

Medak also qualified for the last four stage along with Nizamabad and Mahboobnagar.

Easy win for

Rayalaseema

Rayalaseema recorded a five-wicket against Hyderabad in the Kotla Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy memorial AP State-level women's cricket tournament in Dhone on Sunday.

The scores: Hyderabad 134 (Sravanthi 53) lost to Rayalaseema 135 for five (Geeta 61, Diana David 45); Andhra XI 134 (Sandhya 55, Savita Nirala 41) President's XI 136 for two (Keertana 80).

clinch honours

A. Vamsi Sai Nath of SFS Shanti Nagar and Pramada (All Saint's) clinched the honours in the under-10 years category boys and girls sections respectively in the Hyderabad 10K Road Races organised by Hyderabad District Athletic Association at Lal Bahadur Stadium here.
