Bravery Award winners felicitated

NEW DELHI: SOS Children's Village of India felicitated winners of the National Bravery Award in neighbouring Faridabad this past week. All the children were awarded a certificate, a memento, a school bag and a set of books and SOS young ambassador badge each. The students of SOS Hermann Gmeiner School presented a cultural programme on the occasion.

Being a premier organisation for childcare, SOS Children's Village of India has been honouring bravery award winners since 1995.

IGNOU launches new diploma course

NEW DELHI: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has launched a new diploma in value added products from fruits and vegetables from January. The diploma programme offered by IGNOU is an innovative programme based on self-learning instructional materials with multi-media and face-to-face counselling support.

It is essentially a judicious mix of theoretical and practical courses to develop skills in post harvesting management and value addition of fruits and vegetables.

The filled-up application forms should reach the Regional Directors concerned before February 15.

Manav Sthali Maths talent Test

NEW DELHI: Manav Sthali School at Rajinder Nagar organised the annual "XXII Manav Sthali All-India Inter-School Maths Talent Test 2006" in the school premises over the weekend.

A large number of students from Classes VI to XII from 56 prestigious schools of Delhi and around participated in the talent test.

Manav Sthali School has been holding this talent test since the 1984 and so far about 32,000 students have taken this maths talent test. Mamta V. Bhatnagar, Director and founder Principal of the School said: "Mathematics is universally acknowledged as the most brain sharpening subject. Such tests help in creating a spirit of healthy competition as well as help students in assessing their real mathematical abilities which somehow school exams fail to do."

Prerna Yatra by Youth Congress

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress is organising a "Prerna Yatra" in the Capital on Monday. The yatra will start from the All-Indian Congress Committee headquarters and proceed towards Raj Ghat. Later the yatra will go to all the 12 districts and 134 blocks across Delhi.

The purpose of the yatra is to spread the thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi, the policies of the Congress party and the achievements of the United Progressive Alliance and Delhi governments among the common people.
