VIJAYAWADA: Leo and Rixie stood erect facing one another at the PWD Ground, oblivious to the constant attention of a large number of spectators around them. People gazed in awe at the spotted brown and black canine breeds while their owners took pride in the attention grabbed by the two Great Danes. Even while people tried to dig deep into the characteristics of this magnificent breed, the sight of a Dachshund pulling a tiny cart was a delightful distraction that had the crowd looking the other way. Dachshund, Great Dane, Alsatian or German Shepherd, Doberman, Labrador, Pomeranian, Poodles and many more breeds of dogs were big crowd-pullers at the Swaraj Maidan, one of the five venues for the ongoing Krishna Mahotsavam. The view at the dog show was a visual feast to dog-lovers who could not take their eyes off their cute little feats. Officials of Veterinary Department, organisers of the show, said the response was good. A total of 134 entries were registered and the show attracted nearly 15 breeds of dogs. The horticulture show at Rajiv Gandhi Park, meanwhile, also drew good response with a large number of children, with parents in tow, visited the place to learn about new things the fun way.
