Free medical camp

A free medical camp was organised by Swayamkrishi voluntary organisation in Vijayalakshmi High School at Tadigadapa on Sunday. Tests were conducted for patients in ophthalmology, orthopaedics, paediatrics and dental fields. Project work

Principal of Dr. M. S. College of Education of Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha Sadaquat Ali Khan presented his project work on `Green revolution and its aftermath' at the orientation course for university and college teachers sponsored by UGC at Bangalore from December 28, 2005 to January 17, 2006.

Banking services

The Patamata branch of Andhra Bank has started non-stop banking services from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The facility was inaugurated by Sub-Collector in-charge Ch. Bhanu Prasad on January 27.

Classes opened

IGNOU Regional Assistant Director D. R. Sharma on Sunday inaugurated classes for the new batch of students at KBN College, Kothapet, and outlined several steps being taken by IGNOU to spread distance education in the country. He asked students to visit the website www.ignou.ac.in for more details.

Talk on astrology

The Rotary Club of Vijayawada Mid-Town on Sunday organised a talk on astrology by Ganugula Yugandharacharya. He explained how astrology was relevant in the light of some of the scientific principles such as Newton's laws.

Certificates distributed

Certificates were distributed on Sunday to those who completed the two-month training in cellphone servicing and repair held by APITCO in association with Union Department of Science and Technology.
