Officials inspect preparatory works for Greenlands and Punjagutta flyover

  • Construction will start in Grand Kakatiya - Blue Moon Hotel areas on February 2
  • Digging and construction of piers in a phased manner
  • Public advised to take alternate routes to avoid traffic snarls

HYDERABAD: Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) A.K.Khan and MCH Additional Commissioner (Traffic & Transportation) N.V.S. Reddy on Sunday inspected the preparatory works for Punjagutta and Greenlands flyovers and examined the traffic diversion plans.

To minimise the inconvenience to travelling public on this busy stretch that has a lot of VIP movement, it was decided to undertake digging and construction of piers in a phased manner, dismantle the central medians, divert some streams of traffic and minimise the barricading, according to a press release.

    Barricading

The barricading would be localised and the construction would start in Grand Kakatiya - Blue Moon Hotel areas on February 2 after a few days of traffic awareness campaign and the construction activity would be gradually extended to other pier locations thereafter.

The travelling public has been advised to take alternate routes as far as possible to avoid traffic snarls.

    Routes identified

Those travelling from Secunderabad to Kukatpally and Jeedimetla areas can take diversion either at YMCA junction after St.Anns School or at Paradise Junction (below the flyovers) to the right and use Tadbund, Bowenpally and Balanagar route.

Similarly, those going to Somajiguda, Banjara Hills, Mehdipatnam, Jubilee Hills and Hitec City areas can take left turn at Rasoolpura Junction and use Minister Road-Necklace Road-Khairatabad route. Appropriate indication boards would be placed at YMCA, CTO, Paradise and Rasoolpura Junction.

The MCH Commissioner, Sanjay Jaju said girders and decks of the flyovers pre-cast elsewhere will be brought to the site and installed during nights without disturbing the traffic.
