Carmel High School team wins Vijaya Bank quiz contest

BANGALORE: Abhishek Chauhan and B. Poorna Chandra of Carmel High School, Basaveswaranagar, won the 20th Vijaya Bank Inter-High School Quiz held here on Sunday.

The contest was organised by the Vijaya Bank Cultural Club at the bank's head office.

The quiz in English was open to high school children of Standard VIII to X.

This year, the event attracted 100 teams from 65 schools, comprising 200 students.

The quiz is held in every January.

Giri Balasubramaniam, known as Pickbran in quiz circles, conducted the quiz for which there was no entry fee. This was the 10th year for Mr. Giri in the Vijaya Bank quiz.

Vignesh G. and Alok Shetty of St. Paul's English School and Sujoy Dutta and Akarsh Mohan of National Public School (NPS), HAL, were declared the first and second runner-up respectively. Rahul S. and Shivacharan Patel of Chetana Vidya Mandir, Tumkur, won the trophy for the Best Outstation Team.

Director-General and Inspector-General of Police B.S. Sial gave away the prizes. Vijaya Bank Chairman and Managing Director M.S. Kapur presided over the prize distribution function.
